Pacific House, Pacific, California. Located along Highway 50 in El Dorado County, on the historic overland stage route over the Sierras. Pacific House has served the traveler since 1850.

My mother, who grew up in Lincoln, California from 1941-1951, used to vacation here.

On This Day - January 9, 1898

On this day, January 9, 1898, my Grandpa Bill was born.  He was born William George Wickenkamp in Dorchester, Saline county, Nebraska. The seventh child of Andrew (Georg Heinrich Andreas) Wickenkamp and Elisabeth Drollner. Bill grew up in Nebraska. Between 1920 and 1930 the family moved to Casper, Natrona, Wyoming. It was in Casper where he met and married Florence Sybil Koch and my mom, Jerry Lynn Wickenkamp was born. He and his family moved to Lincoln, Placer county, California, in 1941 where they had a fruit ranch. In 1951 they moved to Jump Off (Valley), Stevens county, Washington and bought a farm. He loved to fish. On a earlier post I there is a picture of grandpa and his fish. Happy Birthday, Grandpa Bill!

Hundreds Take Part in San Marin Costume Parade, that was the headline in the Novato Advance, November 5, 1969.

The Halloween event I participated in, was the Annual Halloween Parade that took place on San Andreas in  the San Marin neighborhood of Novato, California. My Brownie Troop made this very large witch float, which happened to be the grand prize winner. As you can see we just dressed as Brownies and no we did not trick or treat. That is me in the front row, middle.


GRAND PRIZE WINNER

"Members of Brownie Troop 1662 pose with their float, which was awarded the grand prize trophy in last weekend's Halloween parade in San Marin.  The float boasted a high-rise witch - 15 feet high.  The troop, which is led by Mrs. Forest Van Vleck, also won the community spirit award".
